i stubbed my toe. first period done. prep now - hooray. rough start. here's hoping for the best. i wish i didn't have to teach english. my students like music and skateboarding and relaxing. what a creative bunch. good thing to know that there's more to them than that, even if they don't recognize it.

That's the mark of a good teacher -- recognizing things that don't exist yet, and then making them appear... hats off to you and all teachers everywhere.
thanks for the pep talk - now if i can only live up to it and MAKE those other good traits appear - that's the part i still struggle with. i just tell myself i'm planting seeds and am content with that. let someone else do the reaping.
